There are so many suggestions out there about how to overcome objections.  Some of them are great and should be used.   I would like to take a spin on these suggestions and approach it from a different angle.

Throughout the whole ordeal deal keep a positive attitude and control the situation.  Our first reaction is to attack when being attacked.  Two wrongs do not make it right.  Remaining positive will keep focused on your goal therefore bringing the other person around to think in the direction you are going.  Staying positive is the number one key factor to me in my home business. I will elaborate later in this blog.

Overcoming objections can be hard and disconcerting.  When you are confronted with objections, place yourself in a leadership role and steer the conversation in the right direction.  Understanding there are those who are interested and those who just want to see what you have to offer.  Your job as a leader is to eventually recognize the difference and wean out the uninterested.  The longer you work in this area the quicker you develop these skills. Keep in mind your goal is to add value so a person who is not interested at that time will eventually become interested and reaches out to you for assistance.  Following are 5 tips from me on how to overcome objections.

Having a home business, I discover there are more objections for not joining a business than there are suggestions. To keep myself on the correct path I started applying techniques that helped me through troubled prospecting.  So, let’s discuss the mindset I used on how to overcome objections.  The reason I said mindset is because I know that every phone call I make or prospect I approach will not want to start a home business immediately. My goal is to plant a seed and watch it flourish. By knowing this, I am able to move forward in spite of the objections.

 

Tip 1: Be Positive

As I mentioned earlier, this is the number one key factor on how to overcome objections.  When you are prospecting, remember this is their first encounter and they will not know you or trust you immediately. An old proverbs says “You only get one chance to make a good first impression.” Remaining positive builds a trust level and allows the person to see an individual that is passionate about his/her work. Grant it, some of these prospects may not open their wallet immediately, but it definitely places them in that direction. How to overcome objections, be positive.

Tip 2: Know Your Work

Be ready to answer the unexpected in a positive way.  Continue to review your manual and the online training until you are quoting phrases in you sleep. While you are learning start implementing immediately. What this does is put you in the position to see how things really work.  As you continue with your home business you adjust to fit your needs.  Don’t stop reaching out to individuals, gravitate towards them. Never lie to get someone to join your business or buy a product. In the end it will hurt more than help.  If a person is going to buy, they are usually ready when you contact them but need a little assurance that everything will be OK.  Familiarize yourself with the common objection questions and come up with honest answers that suit your personality.  Do not let dishonesty be the storm to bring your bridge down. Negative words spread quickly and you don’t want them applying to you.  Once you obtain the label of untrustworthy it is hard to gain that trust back.  If you don’t know the answer to the questions,  be honest and let them know.  Review your training and be ready to answer those questions the next time because they will come up again.  This is piggybacking off “Know Your Work.”  How to overcome objections, be honest.

Tip 4: Don’t Be Afraid

They say that animals can sense fear.  While people are not animals they are very similar with understanding a person’s behavior at the time.  They can tell when you’re happy, sad, or afraid.  It comes out in your voice and it shows in your personality.  Don’t worry about making mistakes; learn from them and move forward in your home business.  Get out there and do your best.  The more you do, the more you become confident.  Every step you take is a step closer to your goal.  Get the spirit of boldness. 2 Corinthians 3:12 says “Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech.” How do you overcome objections, don’t be afraid.

Tip 5:  Be Prepare For Rejections

One of the main reasons newbies don’t put themselves out there and stop working their home business is because of rejection.  I apply the 80/20 rule in this situation.  Eighty percent of your encounters in your business will most likely be met with rejections.  Don’t fret.  It’s the 20% that gives you hope and clear understanding that not everyone will like what you have to offer we do.  It is also that 20% that makes the difference in what you should do next.  So, for everyone 10 people you meet, 8 will reject and 2 will accept.  You take the 2 and start expanding your home business.  How to overcome objections, be prepare for rejections.

Understand that in areas in your home business and life that you are trying to improve, “objections” will rear its ugly head.  Do not be intimidated, attack objections head on and understand it’s not you it’s the business being presented.  Do not mistake objections with rejections.  Rejection is “I don’t want to hear anything you have to offer, leave me alone.” Objection is, “I am interested but not sure if this is the correct path.  Please assure me I am doing the right thing.”  It’s at that time you help.
