Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help

We see a lot of people who are struggling in business, in careers, in money, or in their personal life, and sometimes even a combination of these aspects, don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are lots of reasons why these folks are in a struggle, but the real question is this: what are they doing to get out of the situation they find themselves in?

This question has many answers, but the most common is, “Trying to solve their problems all by themselves.” This doesn’t really come as a surprise, though, since most people believe that they’re supposed to fix their own problems and that asking for help is a sign of weakness.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for HelpBut, if you feel the same way, you have to realize that this is not at all true! Remember: no one is an island, and no one can survive in this world without getting the help of others. So, if you’re struggling, don’t being afraid to ask for help.  If you don’t know how to ask for help, reach out to me and I will help.

How to Ask for Help

So, as early as possible, you have to overcome your fear of asking for help. It’s not easy — I know this because I went through this stage, too! I’ve wanted to try this great marketing platform for some time, but it took me many months to make any progress because I tried to plod along all by myself. Fortunately,  after time lost and money wasted, I realized my mistake and began to take these steps:

Accept that you’re only human

Your skills, educational background, and work experience will never turn you into Superman. So, as soon as possible, acknowledge the fact that you’re human and that you need the help of others to survive.

Don’t think about what others think

People all have this innate urge to gain the approval of other people and to show everyone that they’re tough and independent. Unfortunately, these are the exact things that are stopping you from seeking help. So, instead of focusing on what other people think of you, think of the difficulties you’re going through and just by asking for help, understanding what you can do to overcome them.

Find the right people to help you

Jesus once asked, “Can one blind person lead another? Won’t they both fall into a ditch?” He was talking about following the advice of trusted leaders, but this philosophy can also be applied to where you seek help.

When I became interested in network/ affiliate marketing, for example, I asked my friends about it but they had no idea themselves and couldn’t improve my knowledge about it. So I decided to speak with people who were already in this type of business and, because of their experience, they were able to give me the information I needed. So the lesson is this: don’t get help from just anybody but instead look for people who have the capacity to help you!

Remember that you’re not meant to be alone

Romans 8:28 says: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Take note of the phrase “all things work together” — meaning you’re supposed to work with other people! It’s a reminder that God has placed people in your path to help you, and He wants you to seek out these people and accept the help they offer.

Give back to others

One of the things I’ve realized over time is this: it becomes easier to ask for help when I know that I have the capacity to help others. Somehow, it becomes more of a give-and-take situation rather than just plain taking. I feel better about asking for help from people since I know that I have helped others yesterday and will continue to do so tomorrow. This is one of the reasons why I took up coaching: it gives me the opportunity to help others while also learning something new from them.

It’s not easy to ask for help. But, when you take the right steps, you’ll eventually let go of your fear and learn how.
