Humble Is Not Being Timid

Too often we fail to pursue our dreams because we think we are humble and we don’t want people to think we are aggressive.  Humble Is Not Being Timid!  At one time, I would tell myself I will keep quiet and not say a word.  I thought that was a form of being humble, only to realize it was more about being timid.  You see,  I love to see people achieve and when I felt that were not working up to their capacity I thought is was my job to let them know.  When I did it, I noticed my actions hurt more than help.  So what happened, I called myself humbling and became timid and said nothing. Because of this, I became stagnant.  I began to lose out on a lot of opportunities that would have placed me in a better position today.  Humble Is Not Being Timid!

Whhumble is not being timidat is Humble?

According Merriam-Webster, humble is not proud : not thinking of yourself as better than other people.  I define it this way, no matter how much you achieve, you realize that all can be taken away in one sweep, so you humble yourself and realize that you are bless.  Romans 12:16 says “Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.”  Therefore, knowing all that you have is from hard work and blessings from God, humble yourself. No where does it says not to go after that job or attend those course to enhance your skills; but, to remember how to got to where you are now. Humble Is Not Being Timid!

What is Timid?

Being timid is the feeling or showing a lack of courage or confidence.  Being afraid to do something because you don’t know the outcome. 1 Corinthians 14:40  says, “Let all things be done decently and in order.”  Understand that it takes time to accomplish your goals.  Yes there are some overnight successes; however, they are far and in between.  If you ask the top rank entrepreneurs how long did it take them to accomplish their goals, you will probably get 2 to 3 years. The key here is not to become timid and give up.  Work towards your goal and soon reap the harvest of all the seeds you’ve planted.  Humble Is Not Being Timid!

I said all of that to say these four words…Don’t Be Afraid.  If you have a deep yearning in your heart that keeps coming up but you keep pushing it aside; face your giants and move in the direction of that fear.  Don’t worry about not knowing everything and being qualified to do the job.  Place yourself in the positions to learn.  Know that learning is an ongoing state of mind.  We are living in a world where technology is changing monthly.  Things that worked in the past are no longer working now.  However, because you are in the learning stage you realize that you need to adjust your status and make a change.  Remember in all that you do, do with excellence and do not become timid.  Humble Is Not Being Timid!

Jim Rohn says it this way… “The challenge of leadership is to be strong but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a bully; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant, have humor, but without folly.
